Broad workforce foundation

Warfighter Informed Care consists of two 40-hour courses that ground clinicians serving military and veteran populations. Graduates understand the culture, recognize cumulative exposure histories, and build case conceptualizations that account for interacting domains. They coordinate referrals across a fragmented system of care and document their reasoning in language the system respects.

Advanced operator-focused training

Humans Not Hardware prepares clinicians who care for special operations, EOD, and comparable high-exposure populations. The work at this level is harder because it involves cumulative blast exposure, layered trauma, operational load, medical comorbidity, and the guarded engagement that shapes what a patient discloses, when they disclose it, and whether they return.

Operator Syndrome Informed Care translates the Operator Syndrome literature into continuing education for licensed clinicians. Every format carries the same core content, while the longer formats add case depth, rehearsal, and implementation support.

Research translated into practice

Published research, translated into clinical training.

Operator Syndrome was originated by B. Christopher Frueh and colleagues and later empirically examined and refined by Shane W. Adams and colleagues. Bombproof does not claim authorship, ownership, or validation of that clinical framework.

Bombproof's role is translation. The company turns that research into curriculum, case material, assessment architecture, and instruction that hold up in actual delivery, and that translation layer is Bombproof's original work. The result is a controlled system that keeps clinicians within their scope of practice and current standards of care.

OSIC is clinician education. It is not a new diagnosis, a replacement for VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines, or evidence of institutional adoption.

The first engagement is a single 40-hour Warfighter Informed Care delivery for a selected cohort, followed by a 90-day review of what actually changed in clinical practice. It is small enough for an institution to approve quickly and complete enough to be judged honestly.

Founder

Nate McCafferty, MSW

Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Doctoral Candidate, University of Southern California

McCafferty is a combat-wounded retired United States Marine Corps Master Sergeant and Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician. Across more than 16 years of service, seven deployments, and four combat tours, he worked inside the cumulative exposure profile Bombproof's training is built to address.

He now brings that experience to clinical practice and doctoral research in social work. Bombproof was built to turn that combined operational and clinical knowledge into training other clinicians can use.
